Troglotayosicidae

The two monotypic genera in this family were formerly placed in the Superstitioniidae. Both are poorly known and may not be closely related. Both species are troglobites, possessing lateral eyes, but no median eyes. Troglotayosicus vachoni, known from a single individual from a cave in Ecuador, shares many characteristics with the Superstitioniidae. Belisarius xambeui, from caves in the eastern Pyrenees of Spain and France, was traditionally grouped with Euscorpius, with which it bears a superficial resemblance. But the trichobothrial pattern of this species is very primitive and much closer to that of the Vaejovidae, Superstitioniidae, and Iuridae.
