Family Helicopsychidae Identification: Costal margin of HW with a row of tiny hooks in basal portion, and somewhat angulate in middle. Mesoscutum and scutellum each with a pair of small warts.

Only 4 species in this group occur in N. America, but 1 is widely distributed. Adults are brownish or mottled and 5-7 mm. Larvae occur in clear, cool, slow-moving streams with a sandy bottom; their cases are about 34 in. wide and shaped like a snail shell.
